Ever wished you could make your DOA CAL or other soft plastic bait into a topwater popper? Now you can, thanks to this clever addition to your tackle box by DOA Lures. The scooped face and sprawled pectoral fins keep your jerk baits on the surface for an enticing, popping and spitting presentation.
The Chug Head isn’t designed to make your soft plastics float, but the baits we fished without a weighted hook sunk very slowly. Any action of the rod drove the Chug Head and its realistic eyes back to the surface for more attention-getting commotion.
All you do is slide the Chug Head over the front of your favorite CAL lure, then rig it “worm style” right through the head with one of DOA’s Long Neck hooks. Now you’re ready to “chug it” right through and over the heaviest cover!
Chug Heads come in a variety of great colors including favorites like Night Glow, Red glitter/Chartreuse, and all Red. Definitely one of the coolest additions to my shallow-water tackle box this year.

I gotta say the Chug Heads are a blast to work around shallow water or in the surf. I prefer the red head but all are great. I have started to keep one in my freshwater box for that special moment around some grass but havent gotten the chance to try it. Im sure one of the CAL colors that represent a shiner would produce. Anything DOA is going to catch fish, best softies on the market for any application in my opinion.
